“ In my case it had impacted me positively from different perspectives. First of all, Learning something new is always motivational for me and especially learning a new language is a great feeling. However in order to learn properly, you need the right recipe :) my story with Arabic starts actually in 1992 when i was in secondary and getting Arabic as a secondary language at school (4 hours a week), i was feeling very excited since this would be the second foreign language that i would be learning (after English). i had 6 years Arabic lessons yet neither me nor 95% of my friends couldn't learn the language. Why? Weren't we capable? i learnt English, then in High School i learnt Traditional Greek from my family, then i learnt French in University (all courses were in French) then i learnt Spanish as secondary language in university. but not Arabic unfortunately... why? as i wrote at the beginning, we didn't have the right recipe, then i moved to Saudi Arabia 4 years ago and first my wife decided to take some private courses and this has triggered the hunger for learning. Actually i didn't need to learn Arabic for business since everyone at the office were speaking in English. My objective was just to understand Quran when i read it. i knew how to read Arabic since 7 years old like many Turkish and i had many Suras in my memory (including Yasin) but we didn't know the meaning. After a quick research from my network, i heard ICTA's name and i just googled it after watching some informative videos on ICTA website, i decided to start the courses 2 years ago. after 40 years old learning a language is not easy especially if you are working. so i was really doubtful whether i would be able to make it. now we are in B2 and when i read Quran, i feel very different, it's like Allah is talking to me directly! Reading Quran from Turkish is like speaking to someone through a translator, but when you understand the language and read from the original, then you feel you are talking directly with no translator. So it really helped me to understand Quran and Islam better, which had a very positive impact in my life. when you understand better, you do better, and when you do better, you feel better. Secondly, thanks to the Arabic practices that we make with our teachers and friends in ICTA, after learning Arabic, i started to communicate more in Arabic with other people rather than using English (the easiest way :) and when i communicate in Arabic even tough i was making mistakes, i realized people around are becoming easier and more open. thirdly, in business, (i am a Marketing Director) i have to understand consumers, what they need, what they like etc and in order to do that we run a lot of researches. in these researches we were always using translators, we still use them but now i understand better and directly just asking details, this had a positive impact on me professionally too, and lastly in ICTA, i had the opportunity to meet great people from different parts of the world, i learnt from them and even tough we have online classes, we enjoyed the time we spent, and i have to add that ICTA helped me to understand not only the language but also Arabic Culture. ”
